      1980 Camaro brake problems

Hi. I am just finishing up my 1980 z28 and now I have brake problems. It has disc in front and drums in back. I replace the booster, master cylinder, calipers, pads and front brake lines. All original replacement parts, nothing upgraded. Now my brake light is on and my back brakes will lock up if I slam on the brakes. I have bled the master cylinder and all four corners starting with LR then RR then LF then RF. If I unplug the wire going to the prop. valve the light goes off.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe you can bleed the prop valve on that one. That might take care of the light. You also should bleed the brakes starting with the wheel furthest from the master. In this case you would go right rear, left rear, right front, left front. Also, check the rear drums and see how well they are adjusted.

On late 70s early 80s GM F bodies there was a pressure switch on the prop valve you have to push in to get it to go of and reset. Forgot the sequence if it is just while bleeding or while applying pressure.

If the rears are locking up and the Brake light is on, I'm betting that the prop valve is stuck. The prop valve can be taken apart and checked to see if it is sticking.

When you go to bleed them if one side has low pressure it will kick the switch on the prop valve until you hold it down with equal pressure. I'll try and check the shop manual tonight for the sequence on how to reset it.
