Cheap paint gun for primer
I am looking for a cheap paint gun for laying down some etching primer to protect some new sheet metal for a while....any ideas of an acceptable one for around 25-50 bucks...dont want to spend too much on it.

i found a TON of fairly decent paint guns on Ebay for $1 + $15 shipping. So it still comes out to a good deal.

Think they will do a decent enough job? I want a cheap one, but not necessarily a crappy one.

I bought a pretty cheap craftsman spray gun, to paint small misc. parts and such. I think it was like $60 bucks? I haven't used it yet, but it looks to be pretty good.

Most any Craftsman type gun will work well for primer. Top feeders are my personal favorite. Just try to get a tip thats around a 1.6 and you should be all set. If its a little bigger that will be ok too . You will just have to sand a little more thats all.

i would suggest a 1.8 to 2.0 for urethan primers, i spray my first coats with my 2.0 tip gun, then after blocking i go to a 1.6, for a smoother finish, but the purpose of the primer is to build the surface , so you are able to block sand it straight, so you need to put some primer on it, any gravity feed 1.8-2.0 will work good, and you do not need a smaller for 2nd coat, 1.8-2.0 will work great

ive had good luck with the harbor freight gravity feed guns, dont know if you can specify tip size. the one i had i ruined shooting epoxy on a bathtub, so they werent all that great for that application but it came out nice with trial and error. for $40 it isnt a big deal to throw them away.

$35+$10 shipping. It comes with an adjustable regulator, 1.4mm tip for painting and a 2.0mm tip for priming. I've had mine for 2 years and it's a great quality gun for the money- real solid and trigger pull is very smooth. You can use the 3M PPS system with it as well- it takes the #2 adapter. I have painted some parts with it using the 1.4 tip for basecoat and clear and they came out great. Haven't used the 2.0 tip yet but I used the 1.4 tip to primer a truck and it worked really good.
