      Slip yoke wear

I noticed that my slip yoke (ZF6 speed) is a little loose in the tailshaft. The bushing is clearly worn, but I tried it in my fresh NOS trans (0 miles on it) and it is much tighter, but still has a tiny bit of play. I measured that the yoke has a 1.886" diameter on the ends (fore and aft of where the bushing rides) and 1.883" in the middle. Is 0.003" of wear (diameter) acceptable, or should I get a new yoke?

      Thanks for any help

      wear

Good question, I'm not sure of the answer. I think it would be OK to run it but you have to think 0 wear would be like new, so it would not hurt to replace it. I would think its time. especially knowing that trans is not a cheap one

      Yeah, good point.

I might just get a whole new D/S made up... I was playing with my suspension settings and ended up pushing the D/S into the trans to within 1/8" of fully bottoming out... so I had it shortened by 3/4", thinking I was going to keep the suspension like that. Well it turns out, I dont want to keep it like that, so now it sits too far out. Having a second one made would allow me to go back and forth between the two settings (LCA relocation brackets and adjustable uppers).

      There goes another $250 :(
