      Self Etch Primer Questions

Hi guys getting ready to start a budget build on a car i just picked up and had a question. Im going to be (already started) sanding the car to bare metal. Now would it be ideal to put self etch primer over the bare metal? Would I beable to spray self etch primer over body filler or not? Should I look for something else?

I want a black primer but not to many choices thats why im asking about the self etch. Any suggestions would be great.

self etching is good if your not going to poly prime and the etch primer will not sit for long.
i would go with an epoxy primer, which you can do body work over, you can polyester prime over, and most times is black as well

I have a gallon of dp epoxy primer in black that i got like 3 yrs ago. Would it still be any good? I never opened it up.

If its still good, they say epoxy primer is real "nasty stuff" and that i should spray it though a cheap gun. Is this true? Have any good recommendations for cheap guns? This would be my first time using a spray gun.
