TH350 second gear disengages under load

I had my tranny rebuilt last year by a proffesional and convinced it was a "plug and play" job for me I got disappointed.

The problem is that when I floor the pedal on second gear it disengages and the engine revs unloaded. When I release the throttle it engages again to maybe disengage immidiatly when I floor the pedal again. To me it seems that this is a little bit random but more times than not this happens.

I have a 406 CSB with Brodix heads and a hyd. roller in a 67 camaro convertible.

The tranny is inforced and equiped with a shiftkit, I don't know the exact specs but can find out if they are important. If I drive moderate the tranny behaves okey. I very concern to over rev the engine and realize serious damages.

      Please help!!

It might be the downshift cable doing it, though I really don't know.

      I'll try without it.

      Additional info:
This happens no matter if I manually position the stick on the second gear or in Drive position. But, only the second gear..

Try bad converter. TH350 from m y 71 MC did this and after loaned to buddy he installed different converter and it was fine. Probably bad one way roller clutch in side it.

I never had any luck with 350's. I blew up two of them with a 355.

      Latest info.
I had a lot of conversation with people having deep-deep knowledge in this transmissions and realized this problem is something unique.

Finally I did what Jason proposed and disconnected the kickdown cable and whoooho, the problem was gone. Not a single time did this problem show up during my tests.

I connected the cable again but slacked it a little bit. It's tuned so the transmission still do the kickdown but isen't stretched as previously.

A guy told me the pressure in the tranny is controlled by the position of this cable and when the pressure is high a leakage somewhere in the valvebody may result in this kind of behaviour.

      What's your opinion?

I will drive it this way now and have it fixed (probably new valvebody) under the winter season.

      Thanks for all help. /Emanuel
