I am currently building a semi pro-touring car for my wife. It's a 68 firebird and has dse mini-tubs. We scored 335/30/18 rubber for the rear, but have not found many true Chrome 18x12 wheels out there. Especially chrome wheels that you can custom order backspacing for. Does anyone have suggestions. We would like chrome due to the antipolishing campaign!

18x12 is typically a high end size and not many high-end companies want to chrome aluminum wheels because it doesn't hold up well over time. I also don't think it looks nearly as nice as polished aluminum.

We www.RushforthWheels.com can do a ceramic clearcoat that will keep you from ever having to polish again or brush them and clear it which looks great on a pro-touring car or powdercoat them any color you want.

I think Fesler does all his wheels in Chrome.

Personally I don't like chrome wheels. Chrome is easier to clean but polished aluminum look so much nicer IMO.

Chrome on 2 piece wheels is a no no. The Forgelines, Asanti (Fesler) 3 piece stuff is great for chrome. Or to keep costs down find a 2 piece polished and clear coat it.

As others have stated, chrome on a 2 piece wheel is not a good idea. It won't hold up very well. We can do chrome on any of our three piece wheels and if there's a two piece style that you like we may be able to put that into three piece for you. We can also do custom backspacing. Chrome is way overdone and looks dated in my opinion,unless your car is Black then it's OK in my book.
As has been already stated,there are many custom finishes as well as clearcoating that will protect polished aluminum and eliminate polishing.

Plus,polished aluminum has a rich luster that cannot be duplicated by chrome,much less harsh on the eyes and compliments the polished brightwork trim far better than chrome...again,IMHO.

Chrome will not last over years and will scratch easily if not careful...Just my .02 worth.

Thanks for all the insight here - its looking like a polished or polished and cleared wheel for us.

On a second note - we set the tire in the wheelhouse today and found that it is very tight. Will i need to roll or trim the out wheel house to get the 335's in there?

Hey, I am jumping on the no chrome bandwagon! We do alot of our wheels with a show polish and a clear powder coat. PM me if you have questions about that type of finish.

I agree with bonspeed brad. I have a set of Bonspeed instense 5 rims of my camaro and they have the show polish on them. I have people telling my all the time that they like my chrome wheels. The show polisheed actually look better then chrome. and clean alot easier too.

I like the sound of polish then clear or brushed then clear. We definately want a 5 spoke and my wife is not a fan of exposed bolts or rivets. Concerning Bonspeed wheels, we like the Hunnington and Quick Silver. So here's the chance to review our choices so far...

Bonspeed - Hunnington, Quick Silver
Rushforth - Fuel
Intro - Matrix, Pentia, Vista Series & Classic
CCW - SP500, SP550
Fikse - FM/5 & Profil 5
Boze - Stinger
Forgeline - S03, S03P - sans bolts of course
Budnik - G5, Hammer,
American Racing - TTII of course, but w/o the polishing

Does anyone have specific recomendations based on our preferences above???
