      FNG from NE Texas

I am a big pro touring fan and found my way to this website from a story in PHR about the creator of the site. Glad I did too...

I've built a few early Novas, a '70 Chevelle, a '67 BelAir, a '57 BelAir and a few others. Not necessarily a die-hard Chevy guy, but my dad was so I lean that way...

My newest project is a bit out there based on what is currently deemed "pro touring". If I get up the courage, I'll start a thread on it.

And to explain the username, been using it for 10+ years and find it easier to use the same name everywhere.

      And I like old Datsuns.

      Gentleman, start your flaming...

Project #1, 1971 Bluebird Coupe. Building up the suspension now, paint soon, swapping in a newer turbocharged engine directly after that, switching to 17x8s soon so I can run 12" rotors and Wilwood calipers. And obviously going a good bit lower...

Project #2, 1973 Sunny Coupe. Will be getting an IRS conversion, well-sorted suspension, 16x8s (will sit a little higher than in the pic), roll cage, Sparco seats, engine TBD...

The bolt-on flares kind of kill the "pro touring" look, but believe me they are necessary. You can't fit anything bigger than 14" tires under the car without them...

Found a '63 Nova hardtop locally I might get to build when these are done (something more "traditional"), we'll see. My dad was big in the Nova scene and built quite a few. I'll love to have one to be a constant reminder...

      Glad to hear it.

It's tough being a Pro Touring fan into old Japanese cars. The Japanese car guys don't like it because I don't want 13x8 wheels, and the muscle car guys don't like my "Japanese crap".

As long as the majority of your modifications are done with the intention of improving the performance of the vehicle--it fits on pro-touring.com. It sure looks like that's what your cars are about. No worries here.

      Thanks.

When I get some more work done, I'll start a proper build thread.

Nice car! For me Pro-touring is more about one's attitude and goals of your build then it is about the brand you drive but that's just me.

      Welcome aboard, from another local!

Hey - though - we're asking that folks put their name (well, at least their first name) in their signature if it's not obvious from their nick. When you get a chance would you mind doing so?

Very glad to see a few. Seems like all the cars around here are still stuck in the "Pro Street" 80s...

all modded cars are cool, ever seen this datsun?

read up on the mods to this car; if this isn't pro-touring, I don't know what is.

I was afraid someone would bring up that abomination...

To me, the only thing "pro touring" about it is the wheels and stance. No interior and no windows? A rotary engine with a draw-through turbo and Holley carb?

That car was state-of-the-art in 1989, not so much any more.

Having said all that, Bryan is a great builder, and the workmanship on that car is astounding. It's just so "wrong"...

No, it's John Roper's new car.

Yes, it used to belong to Brian in L.A. Interesting note on this car (and one of the reasons I bought it), is that of the 25-30 Bluebirds in the US, this was the first one ever imported.

sorry, I'm not a datsun dude. I've always liked that car because it's all stripped down, nothing that doesn't need to be there.
of course, what do I know? I like saturns also...

Again, for what it is, it's awesome. It;'s just no "street car" in my opinion.

Hey, some Saturns got it going on...

I feel like I'm unique (or weird) because I like all kinds of cars. Almost anything with the right wheels and stance looks cool.
