      Help with Flat black

Try to make flat black out of single stage black paint by using a flatting agent, always come king of greys on smoke color. Someone told me do base coat and on the clear put the agent. Can anybody give advice on the correct way of doing this. Trying to get the dash on my camaro right
      Thanks in advance

I've always flattened the clear rather than the base. The amount of flattening base to add is hit or miss.
