Radiator shroud design? need input for my build.

I'm sure most of you have seen these radiator (kits) for lack of better description. Rad. duel or single fans with shroud all for one price. Each is a little different. A lot of them have "for a shroud" a flat pc of alum. Now my question is "would it be better if instead of being flat against the core it was 1/2" off the core, boxed in on all sides? Would that be more efficiant ?

Good question. I think many of the assemblies would benefit from some 'rubber flaps' to improve airflow when cruising. Not hard to mod.

I just bought one of these for my build:

3.55" thick including fans and does have the flaps as mentioned. Fits really well on my radiator.

Yes, it would be better to have the shroud distanced from the radiator, but sealed to to, so it can pull air throught the whole radiator, not just in the sweep of the blades.
On top of that the flaps Rick mentioned are important to keep the fan from blocking too much air when driving at higher speeds.
