Looking to lower a 57 Chevy. Need help

I am trying to help my father in law out here..

We want to lower the front about 4 inches.. And we are trying to do it fairly inexpensivly..

I was looking at CPP has 1.5in drop springs and 2in drop spindles..

That would probably work but I am concerned that the drop spindles will make the car handle worse.. Will they??

Any other options??

Drop spindles and springs are an excellent way to lower that front end. The spindles themselves won't affect handling. Lowering the car, the change in angle of the upper control arm and the presumably increased stiffness of the springs will all typically improve handling. When you are all done, align the car with about 1/2 to 5/8 degree negative camber and about 2 1/2 degrees positive caster with 1/8 inch toe in, and you should be good. Be aware of possible wheel interference problems with some drop spindles. Talk to the manufacturer before you purchase.

What steering box are you using? If a 605 conversion those seem to like all the caster you can possibly manage.

Not sure what box it is but it is a power conversion from Ecklers if that helps..

Does that mean you're using the Bendix system with external power ram that mounts to the frame at one end and the center link at the other?
