      Air Ducts

OK, I'm thinking about how to effectively duct air in a confined and winding space, and have a question. If this needs to be posted elsewhere, mods, please move it to where you think it's a better fit.

OK, I need to duct air around and about confined spaces. Rather than using convoluted bellows tubing, I'm wondering if the following would work.

Generate a cardboard duct/template to fit the planned air path. Glue/tape/secure 3 sides of the 4 sided rectangular duct (or half the round duct. Since this is essentially a non-load bearing deal, paint fiberglass resin on the inside surfaces of the template (probably duct taped together) when dry, assemble the opposing side, and paint the resin on the exterior surface. Of a region needs additional structure, use some fibrglass cloth in the region to reinforce the area. The intent is to used the corrugated structure of the carboard and the stiffened outer skin to provide most of the small load bearing requirements.

Any fiberglass guys care to comment?

      Thanks

It'll work but probably not the best or easiest way, check out http://www.fiberglassforums.com/ for more information.

      X3 good site.

Your idea will work. You can probably refine your template design to work more efficiently for you though. Be ready to sand and sand to get everything smooth. You may also want to consider using an epoxy to glue two halves of fiberglass together. Less sanding on a seam. Fiberglass is easy to use but difficult to use quickly and efficiently. That takes time and practice.

What are you making the ducts for?
