      Blazer rear disc?

Yes, another disc brake quesiton from me. I read somewhere (can't remember) that the backing plates to a 1998-2005 blazer will also bolt up to an early model 10 or 12 bolt rear. I think it has the E brake cable bracket already mounted from factory which makes it easier to set up vs. the LS1 style.
Are the calipers the same as an LS1 style set up?
I am trying to figure out what exactly I need to do this rear uprgrade on my Elco, but want to keep it simple as well.

I had a 98, the rear setup looks very similar to the LS1, except the rotor is a bit smaller, so it clears 15" wheels. You can use either the 2WD or 4WD brackets/backing plates, but only the 2WD rotors. The main difference in the brackets is the caliper location, the 2WD is at about 2 o'clock (toward the rear) and the 4WD is about 11 o'clock (toward the front, looking at drivers side). I don't remember if the cable bracket is part of it or a separate piece, can't remember.

      Thanx Randy for the info.
I am wondering also......can these backing plates be used with LS1 calipers and rotors? Reason I ask is that most of the bone yards around here won't sell the LS1 brake set up by itself. I need to buy the whole rear (only found 2 anyway). I didn't check yet, but one would think that a Blazer rear is going to be more common and the yard might not car if I yank those from it.

      Plenty of info here:

As far as I know, the LS1 and S10 parts are not interchangeable in any way, but with the built-in E-brake setup, similarly sized rotors/calipers, and cheaper parts, the S10 stuff is just as effective as the LS1 kit (albeit not quite as glamourous)

Yes the cable mount is cast into the mounting plate. No the Ls1 rotor and disks won't work with the blazers mounting plate.

I have read that a 1/4 inch spacer is needed to put 2wd blazer brakes on an s10 because the rear end is a slightly different length I wonder if the same is true of A/G bodies?

see this recent discussion on S10forum: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f14/rear-disc-386544/

I think the same spacer is required for 4x4 backing plates as well.

can anyone confirm? the same may be true of LS1 rear brakes???

I needed 1/4" to space the Blazer caliper over the rotor properly on my F-body. The whole setup works great, and it clears a 15" wheel so you can still throw slicks on the car at the drag strip.
