      Brake caliper bracket design/fabrication

Hey all, I just found this place. It seems awesome! I'm currently trying to fit a set of Stoptech 4-piston calipers to my car, and I'm planning on fabbing my own set of brackets for it. I have access to solidworks, a mill, a lathe and a welder at my college so I should be set in that respect.

Only thing I'm unsure of is what material to use. I was thinking some type of steel. 4140, 4340 are some pretty common grades we use on the formula car we are building at school, so I was thinking maybe one of those. But I'm not sure if those steel's would be the best choice for the extreme loads and temperature these brackets would be subjected to.

I was hoping there were some experienced machinists here familiar with all different types of metals that would be able to recommend me the most ideal selection. I apologize if this has been asked before, I did a search and didn't find anything conclusive.

      Thanks,
      Connor
