As the owner of '70 Mach, I understand not wanting to do a Mustang. I do think a '67 Fairlane is an excellent choice... for example, here is one that I think was featured in PHR this past year. Totally amazing!!! Charlie Libby's Fairlane . Or consider a Ranchero as a cool alternative.

Here are my other alternatives in order of preference:

1. '72 Torino Sport (closest thing to a US version of Mad Max's Australian XBGT Falcon)

2. '71-'74 Cougar (just don't do a convertible)



3. '68-'69 Torino fastback (especially if you can get a Talladega nose for it) or Cyclone (with the Spoiler nose)

4. '70-'71 Torino Cobra (definitely gotta have the hideaways...) or Cyclone or maybe even a Montego.

5. '67-'70 Cougar (I'd probably prefer a '67-'68 personally)

6. Pinto (who the heck else is gonna PT a Pinto???) If you could pull this off, it'd be one to remember!

Otherwise, I've seen quite a few Mavericks, early Fairlanes & Falcons, and Mustangs getting plenty of attention lately. I'd like to see more of the bigger intermediates. Once you step up to the bigger bodies (Galaxies, T-birds, Continentals), you're stepping into tougher territory, but that might make it worthwhile to try...
