Anyone got the weight of DOM 1.5"X.095" round tube per foot?
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have a chart for weights of tube. Trying to estimate total weight of a chassis before it is built. I used to have a site that had weights but I cannot find it.

Looks like my initial guess of 450lbs for complete frame may be fairly accurate. Now all i have to do is save some money and build it

What sanctioning body allows .095 wall mild steel for a chassis???

Sorry for the confusion. I was planning on 2x2" square with .125 wall for the chassis with 1.5"x 0.95" for the cage if I can get the car under 2200lbs. Maybe a long shot but I am trying for now. Otherwise I will go for 1.5x.120 or 1.75x.095.
I think thats legal but I am just going by memory. Seeing as I suck remembering numbers I am probably wrong. Its time to buy a current rulebook to read through either way.

Most sanctioning bodies require 1.625 x .125 tube for cages. Better even would be to use 1.75. The only way you can get by with .095 wall tube is if it's 4130 ... and I've heard that some sanctioning bodies are getting away from allowing 4130 cages.
Maybe you'll be OK, but I'd check again.

The SCCA is pretty fond of 1.5x.095 for cars up to about 2300 lbs in Club Racing. Solo/auto-x is a different rules animal altogether.

Planning a car based on a BTM cheetah (replica body) with modern stuff hiding underneath. Mostly going to be a street/autoX car but I want to be able to get some track time and do some open road events and maybe the local hillclimb. I think this is going to end up being a heavy little car the way I am overbuilding everything but I am too green to know where I can cut the weight safely. I dont think I will make anywhere near 2300lbs now that I am adding things up
Be a while before I start buying parts and get started though so maybe by then I will know more by then.
