      Q-Jet help!

I am in the process of installing a Q-jet, actually it is already "installed", but I have a small issue I was hoping someone like Cliff may know off the topof his head. On the back of the carb there is large threaded hole on the bottom of the caar.

1-what is the function of this black hole?
2-More importantly, what size is it so I can plug it before it sucks me through it when I am trying to start it!?

I dont mean to be lazy, but I dont want to take the carb off and take it to a hardware store looking for the correct size.

      Thanks

      Jason

Depending on the year of the carb you can plug the hole in the back of the baseplate with either a 1/8 or 1/4 NPT pipe plug. Buy one of each, the ones with and an Allen hex are cleaner looking.

A vacuum 'tee' fitting would normally go there, they made a variety of different ones for different applications.

      Stop being so lazy.

Thanks Bart, Honestly the hole looks even bigger than a 1/4, but that will get me close.

      Thanks again!

1/4 NPT pipe thread is a lot bigger than 1/4" in size, they size pipe fittings by inside diameter of the pipe if I'm not mistaken.

If it looks a lot bigger than 1/4" then it's probably 1/4 NPT, if it looks pretty close to 1/4" in size then it's 1/8 NPT.

Bart is exactly correct. That's where the vacuum T goes in for all the manifold vacuum devices.
