      Alternator clearance

What's the minimum distance I should have between the alternator and the steering box? Since it's on the driver's side I'd think that it's not as critical as pass side clearance since the engine moving would move it away from the box, not towards?

      You are correct sir.

For the record, how much do you have now?
      Nick R.
      69 Camaro - 383, 700R4, 12 bolt 3.55, Hotchkis, Bilstein, Global West, Morris Classic
08 HHR SS - Still Stock for now
Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

      For the record?

      Umm.

About 3/8" at the belt. About zero at the back corner of the box.

I think that with some adjustment I can get about 1/4", and maybe with some creative grinding get a little more.

Try for a bit more than what is in the picture. Breaking things due to engine movement is not fun.
