      '68 Camaro dash pad trim..

I am in the process of installing the dash pad trim on my Camaro. I'm telling ya' it doesn't fit into the original holes. After drilling the holes so that they will line up it's not looking too bad! I do have a question though. After looking at some pictures on the internet, everyone I looked at, the trim goes over the original gauge cluster. For one thing my cluster sticks out about 3/16" from the face of the dash, this makes the trim stick out at this point. if I ever decided I needed to pull the cluster for any reason I would have to pull the trim off. This doesn't sound like fun to me. I'm not finished with a small wiring problem I have and taking the cluster out is a lot easier than crawling under the dash.

I'm needing you guy's opinion. Should I wait until I'm completely finished under the dash and then run the trim over like the pictures have shown, and take the trim off if I need to pull it, or an Idea I had was to cut the trim on each side of the cluster allowing it to be removed if need be without having to pull the trim.

      All ideas will be appreciated.
