69 Fastback-what color red to use

going to take the car to the shop next week. Car is stripped and can't figure out what color red to use. Any thoughts? This car will be driven almost daily so.....

Doing a Mach 1 clone. However, doesnt have to be the original shade of red. Hood will be flat black.

Would you reccommend 1 stage or 2 stage?

I have never had a car painted before, I could really use some help.

      Thanks

a 2 stage, AKA base, clear will do the trick for many moons. Find a paint and body supply store and ask them. They are a wealth of info for a first timer. Also check out the web sites for BASF, Sherwin Williams, Glasurit, RM, House of Kolor, and Eastwood. Whatever red you like is good enough to satisfy me. It is your car after all.

I went with an '08/09 Mustang color (G2 I think the code is the darker of the two reds) on my Camaro.... looks great :D

      thinking
Calypso Coral came on that year mustang. Have to make sure the black of the hood/spoilers isnt too contrasting with a bright paint.

Hey Dustin. you saw the color of my Camaro at that dyno in Long Beach and its PPG Toreador Red which is I believe a late 90's Mustang color. If you were looking for something like that I can get you the paint codes.

Ask your body shop what brand of paint they prefer,
I know, evey painter should be able to use any paint etc,
but most painters Ive known prefer a particular manufacturer or two, learn the paint lines they offer and how the pricing is for red.
Id go with a commonly used red (standard color on common a production car) for a daily driver, not much pearl or metallic for easy touch ups and in the event of an accident its easy to color match, red is always a pain to get right if youre only doing one panel.
Try to avoid going too bright, many reds look orangy, depends on what youre after though

Great advice, that is what we are going to do. This car is going to be driven 4-5 times a week. We try to drive the sh*t out of our cars..
