2" headers on an LS1, 1st gen camaro?

I tried to use the search engine for answers but I didn't see anything that was useful. What I need is a 2" header that fits the stock sub-frame with Lee's box and ATS plates and mounts.

Its starting to look like a set of custom headers? I really don't want to spend over $2000.00 for a set of Burns steel or Stainless set for $3000.00

If someone knows of a set of 1 7/8" headers that will work please let me know. I may consider them as a last step.

      Thanks.

Thanks Rick, looks like Lemons might have them. I will call them and find out what they have to say.

2" LSx headers for a first gen

A common thing the third gen f-body guys do in swaps is to take a set of big block headers and switch the head flange using the $18 GM flanges. The tubes are pretty close in alignment and just need some minor tweaking to align with the LSx flanges.

2" tubes are a very common size for first gen F-bodies so you could take a set of big block headers and convert them. The Hooker Competition series is cheap at under $190 and fits the car well but has unequal length tubes, not by much but still unequal. I have several sets of different big block headers sitting around and will probably go this route with my conversions.

If you are running such an extreme setup that really needs 2" tubes on an LSx engine you probably want the Super Competition equal length headers to start with or something equal. They will run right at $500 new so they will still save you some cash doing it yourself.

You may be able to find a set used to save you some more cash since the big block first gens are so popular.

We make the header you are requesting. It sounds like we are out of your budget, but you will never regret the power, fitment and looks our Tri-Y headers give you.

      Thanks.

most any custom full chassis shop can make you a custom set of headers for around $1000 minus the coating. call up a few fab shops in your area and see what they say.

i had a set made for $900 and then i coated them. beats the snot out of kooks "custom" headers.

Two inch primaries on an LSx ?

First of all, what makes you think you need a 2 inch primary ??

Wait... your in Romona. Your not using light bulbs to smoke with are you ?? lol

I say suck it up. You will not find a better set of headers for an LSx than the ATS Tri-Y's... in consideration of fitment, power production, durability and esthetics.

If the ATS components are not within your budget... there is also Bob Butler down in El Cajon on Hill Street. Bob builds the best one off headers in SDCounty.

      Buy the ATS headers.

I was in the same situation as you. First-gen, stock subframe, Lee box, ATS plates. I thought there might have been something else out there that would be less expensive, but still need some minor tweaking to fit.

Looking back at all the projects I've been a part of with headers, I've realized there is no way that spending that little bit extra money on a quality engineered performance adding part that fits perfectly and tucks up high enough so that you won't destroy them on your first speed-bump would be a mistake.

Trust me- look how these fit:

the camera shot is a little off but you get the idea.

      header porn:

You could save some money and go with steel instead of stainless, maybe coat them for added durability.

yeah they look great. I was just wondering if the BBC headers really work with a little moding?
