A witness told police that Pendergast “got on it and lost control of the vehicle,” sliding sideways into Burton’s vehicle.

      ...

Looks like he tried to drift around a corner and slid right into an oncoming camry.

Look at the road. It's wet. Big tires are a huge disadvantage on wet pavement.

I've searched and searched for any reference to the owner of the car. Car show pics from his home town, etc. Nothing. The kid is an honor roll student though.

There's a prominent doctor in his town with the same last name...

Glad to hear that kid was okay.
Really, the kid should have not been driving a car like that.
Give him a big Ford Crown Victoria to practice his dumb moves.

My son drove an old '80's big Chevy conversion van. Who cares if he totaled it or not.

After seeing the Camaro like that...my heart skipped a beat!

If you had daughters I assure you that you wouldn't be happy if your daughter friend / boyfriend showed up in a van.

That's the second first gen I've seen fold up like that from being T-boned. I'm starting to think 6-point roll bar...

I've got two daughters, and i feel sorry for the poor kids they choose to date. Not for what I'll do to them, my daughters are pure evil.

Well, lets see. A body with 40+ years of metal fatigue, tires more than twice as wide as OEM, custom front and rear suspension that could also double the load on the body/chassis assembly, and throw in a 500+ horsepower motor. Then add a 16 year old driver. Not much of a surprise in the outcome.
Thank God no one was killed, or that kid would be trading in his honor student status for a set of prison clothes and a new love interest named "Bubba". Someone should slap his old man for ever letting the kid near those keys.
