Accepting payment for parts

I had a schwartz chassis for a first gen camaro listed on the market place on this forum. Someone from Californa contacted me about buying it a couple of months ago about buying it. Well we have now agreed on a price. He wants to send a transport company to pick it up. He is wanting to pay me with a Money order but I am not fond of those. Is there anyone with any other ideas on how to transfer money. Also he wants to pay Half now and the half after he gets the rolling chassis delivered. Is the there anyone out there that would do this. Has anyone ever dealed with an escrow on a transaction like this so someone can hold the money until both parties are satisfied. I do not want to let this go without being paid for it does anyone agree with me?

get paid in full like Schwartz does before the chassis ships, period.
he should find someone to pick it up and ship it if he is nervous.
have him send you a bank check and wait for it to clear, thats the only way, or tell him to buy one from Schwartz

I wouldnt ship it without payment in full, unless you know the guy or he has very good and long standing reputation.

Money orders are fine, just make sure you have cashed it and the money is in your hand or posted in your account.

Money orders are fine but I didn't think they actually did them over $500. maybe that's a long time ago.

That said, a Cashiers check IN FULL is the way I'd want to go. Payment in full is how Internet transactions go,....he has a right to be concerned but this is the way it should go down.

I like the idea of him getting someone to come look at it, or watch it get loaded. That's his deal to work out.

Hell, I'd even take a check......but I wouldn't ship until it cleared and actual money was in my account.

Not sure how much you sold it for. I'd be more comfortable with a US Postal Money Order than I would with a bank check. You can deposit the check and wait till it clears, but that doesn't mean it can't be charged back to your account...I know someone that it happened to. He eventually got it worked out, but was freaking out for about 2 weeks.

Definitely get paid first. He should be able to find someone from the forum in your area that can send him some independent pics or something to make him feel better.

He says that he is nervous about me coming through with the stuff and was wanting to hold half of the payment for colatrel but as soon as the parts are gone I have no coleteral. He has already aranged the transportation to pick it up. I for sure want paid for it before it leaves. He keeps insisting on paying half and he doen't want to deal through a bank.

See if the transport co. will take a check from him then bring you the cash. Maybe they could act like the escrow person only pay you before they load it up.Something like the old COD type of thing. I don't know if this would work but it might be an idea to look into.

He might be legit and never laid down this much $ at one time for someting he can't touch when he is paying fo it.

It does make him someone who doesn't understand how the game is played and I wouldn't recommend bending the rules just for him. He would get no other treatment from a business selling him any other product and if he doesn't understand , he soon will if he want's a frame from you or Jeff.

Don't get drug into a battle of wits and fraud because he needs learn the right way or you need to learn it too!

I think if he wants to be sure everything is there he needs to have an itemized bill of lading for the transport company. Make it so the transport company checks off each and every part, so you know they picked up everything, and the buyer has a checklist to make sure it all arrives. If everything is not there when the transporter arrives to pick it up they should refuse to accept the shipment.
This protects you and the buyer.
Definitely get paid in full before letting the parts go.
