      C5 vs LS1 abutment question.

Hi, me again. Still pondering brakes for my 65 GTO. It seems that LS1 and C5 calipers are functionally interchangeable, correct? My question is could LS1 caliper and abutments be used with the C5/C4 hybrid brackets you see for sale? Is there a place I could find the center to center measurement on the 2 different abutments?
I ask because I have all the LS1 stuff on hand but would like to use the
C4 rotor for better wheel selection. Thanks as always!

LS1 calipers have much larger pistons than the C5 calipers. You don't want to run them with a 13" rotor.

LS1 front calipers have twin-43mm pistons, C5/C6 fronts have twin-40.5mm pistons, and C4 fronts have twin-38mm pistons. There's nothing wrong with running LS1 calipers on 13" rotors, you'll just want to balance the rear accordingly.

The LS1 and C5/C6 caliper bodies are functionally interchangeable, the pad abutment brackets are not. The LS1 uses M12 mounting hardware versus the larger M14's used with the C5/C6 mounts even though the spacing is the same at 128mm...but the abutments are not. Different FMSI pad specifications as well between the two.

Touring Classics' kit would be an excellent option for you if you haven't already considered it.

      Thanks guys.
Tobin, I think it's cool that you recommended I talk to T.C. very professional. I'm used to the "my stuff is the only way to go" stuff from most suppliers.

The whole reason I was asking about this is, I already have LS1 stuff but have become concerned about wheel fitment with them. I want an old style rim. I know TTII's have problems clearing this set-up. How can I tell if a rim will clear these brakes without having a wheel to check? Do the manufactures have the info? Thanks again.
