      Sound deadener for doors

Is it better to put sound deadener material inside the door (on the back side of the door skin), or on the surface of the door (between the door and the door panel)?

I would say that, the spray stuff on the inside of the doors, and then a sheet style under the panel, thats what I plan on doing to my car, hth

are you gonna run speakers in the doors? if yes then do it on both or atleast put a piece behind the speaker and then do the surface...
the bad thing about doing the inside of the door if if you dont get good adhesion and the car sits in the sun it will fall off and posibly get caught on the window tracks and create all hell.

No speakers in the doors. I'm putting them in the kickpanels with baffles behind them.

Steve - What type of spray on deadener are you planning to use? And how many square feet of the sheet style deadener do you think it will take to cover your doors, floor pans, and the trunk area?

Depending on the amount of material needed (and the total cost shipped to my door), I'm planning to use either Damplifier or RaaM Mat on my car.

Serpa69 - Did you spray the Line-X or apply it with a roller/brush? I assume you had to remove the glass and window mechinisms first.

Lizard Skin and Spectrum (Second Skin) both sound like great products, but Line-x would help save some cash. Any issues with Line-X, such as a bad smell when it gets hot? I might use it inside the trunk too, and then lay some Damplifier or RaaM Mat over top of it.

For the best result you should treat both skins of the doors.
When it comes to structure borne noise, surface areas coverage is key.
The more you can cover, the more you increase the sound deadening results.

This is my old work trunk from a few years ago, but you can see how we did the doors. This is a bit over the top but they were dead as can be afterwords:

Sorry to take so long to get back to this thread.

Damplifier Pro - .65 lbs per sq ft.
Sludge - 13.5 lbs per wet gallon

The Sludge and Damplifier Pro are both awesome vibration dampers.
Damplifier Pro will do a better job with heat though due tot he ultra thick foil. Sludge is nice because it is very easy to apply

Both are great and best when used along side of one another..

A little intense with the doors, and for a work truck, maybe PRO audio, but man,

Holy crap, I hope you don't have to get into the door for any electrical problems, otherwise you'll have one hell of a time!

I had the Line-X guys that do the installs for the dealerships spray it in. I do not think you can buy it in a can and use it with a roller. Yes I had to take out the windows, regulators, door lock mechanisms, and door handle. Then you tape up the holes and take it to the guys and they spray it in while you wait. After you put the plastic water barrier up and door panel, there is no smell or anything that l can notice. I do notice a solid door with no road noise. They will ask you what kind of texture you want, but that really does not matter because there is no room to apply one in the door.
