small wheel crisis for my 67'
Well, after months of research I decided on 17" rims, Flex 5 by Boze.
I installed my new Baer Track brake system on the fronts with 13"
rotors.. Baer said that "they will fill out 17" and 18" wheel packages"
After speaking with Boze, Only the 17" with the stepped lip will work or 18" with the nice fat deep lip..
So, I really liked the more sidewall of the 17"s, fell like it is more of the muscle look of the 70's..But I dont like the stepped lip.. Should I switch out to 18"s or find a new 17" rim that can still use a deep lip??? All opinions are appreciated,...

I was just up there today to get my wheels repolished from the installer scratching them...I went with 17 Doons on my 68 with 225/45/17 in front and 255/45/17 on the rear....great sidewall height IMO.. I didn't really like the smooth lip. I liked the traditional lip..I too could have gone with 18's but didn't like the thin sidewall height....My vote is for 17's and traditional lip!!

All depends on what you like...I'm all for the deep dish look even though your wheel specs are conservative

You will find the same problems with all billet wheel companies. Every company uses the same outer hoops. The rolled lip rim won't clear the brakes because there's actually a step in the hoop, it's just behind the center piece. That step interferes with the brakes. On the stepped lip rim the center is put on top of that step so then there's clearance behind the center. If you want billet and want to clear your brakes, your choices are 18" rolled lip, or 17" stepped lip.
