Driving them everyday will give you issues but if you don't drive them you can't find them. After the first 10k or more there is no reason they can't be as dependable.

You just have to worry about the theft these days more than what happens to them from driving.

I must be way out in left field on this one, b/c I just can't understand somethings being said.

First, I would go nuts if I had to drive a Toyota compact, Ford Sedan or Chevy pickup everyday. My wife and I have a BMW and a Tahoe, but they will never compare to jumping in the Firebird and going.
I wait all winter long for spring to roll in and then dread this time a year as the Summer leaves.
      Maybe it's a regional thing?

Secondly what PITA's are you guys referring to?

A couple of weeks ago I drove 3.5 hours to Joliet Good Guys Show, ran the Autocross and left 10 minutes after my last pass to come home 3.5 hours. All with out an issue. I did check the oil and do a once over when I got home , since that was the first autocross I've done.

Most of the time the maintenance and "adjusting" is just me having a good time, not nessaccarily b/c something is wrong or needs to be looked at.

I know there are a lot of "higher" quality builds hanging around here then my home built ride, so just curious what you guys are facing, that I might be overlooking.

The kind of DD I was thinking about was not a show restoration but a nice driver with a rust free body, a new LS3 EFI with the hot cam 480 HP, 6 speed and the air ride so you can adjust it for street use and some auto cross when you want to play and the update suspension brakes & tires.

I'm not to worried about the theft I would use fuel pump cut off switch & lowjack and even if it was stolen no big deal whats the difference between a 40K pro touring car vs 40K BMW.
Granted I would not be driving the car into places where I need a gun but just back & forth from work with gated & covered parking and the normal store runs.

As for as insurance I would get the standard policy and be done. If the insurance company writes the car they owe you like kind & quality base upon an actual cash value within a reasonable persons mind set.

I'd drive the chevelle everyday if I didn't have to worry about careless people door dingin it or not paying attention while driving. Everything about the car is just nice. Its everyone else you gotta worry about. On the other hand. I bought a cherry 66 nova in arizona about a year ago. It was in pcs. I put it back together and got it on the road and drove it everywhere I went. I never got to paint it b/c I sold it to buy my new truck. I loved the fact that it was bare bones. I wish I never sold the car and just fixed it up better. I say go for it.!
