Guy has an LS1 for sale.
Guy in town has an LS1 w/ 4L60E trans for sale that is still in a 1999 GMC that can be driven for $1000.Is this a good deal or should I keep looking?I think it has around 100,000 miles and realise it would need to be livened up to put out much performance but I was just wondering if it would be a good base and what would need to be changed to put in a 68 chevelle?

I could be wrong but I don't think any GMC trucks come with an LS1. I am thinking it would have an LQ4 iron block. Even the Escalades and Denalis had the iron LQ9 I think up till 2007 when the L92 came out which is aluminum block.

Being a '99, I think it could also be an iron 5.3 as well.

might be great, but no truck came with an ls1. find out what exactly it is.

5.3 is still a great engine, you could always pick it up to get the conversion done, bugs worked out, and on the road, then build you what you really want on the back burner. A grand is very reasonable if you can get everything, motor, trans, harness, pcm, accesories.

I agree, $1000 for everything would be a great price.
Car Craft got 500 horses out a 5.3 liter for not a lot of money.
If it's only for the engine....pass.1968 Pro-Touring Camaro LS1

We are using a 5.3 in my sons 78 T/A. Later we might change it for a LS1 but for now it will be fine for his first car.He is only 14 now but I need to hurry time is flying by. He has a twin but is a ford kid. How I don't know.
