The 1972 #12 McClaren M8D "Led Zeppelin" on the track in 07

As the resident Led-head, I felt the need to post this. I assume Bonham was behind this given he was a big motorhead. I could be wrong on that.

      ...from my friend Dan...

Back on the track......On June 3rd 2007, the McClaren was fired up once again and taken to the track to run in the Wine Country Classic at Sears Point. (for those of you who might not have ever seen this car......it was a active race car sponsored by Led Zeppelin in the mid 70's. You can still buy models of it... http://www.ghostmodels.com/?car;item=429;view=10 and if you look around there are many other car model sites w/it available.

Here's the real deal as of last year.

in the pit (notice the red bull can.....just so you know it's recent  )

      and on the track

I believe these to be from years earlier...

A bit more on the car....

far as i can tell the car is currently owned by Jules Moritz Jr. who owns Moritz Motorsports. there is some info on that site about the car located on this page. some of the content on that page includes:

evidentally this is still the car that bonzo sponsored, and it was even around, and been through several transformations before he joined with it. pretty interesting.

here are a couple other pics i found:

some more pretty awesome pics and some more historical facts can be found here:

only the last paragraph talks about the bonzo connection (1974), but still, it shows more of the history prior to this point. remarkable considering it's still on the track...

some more cool pics on this page (click on the thumbnails of course) :

      Very Cool Man !
One of these days I'm coming to Laguna Seca to see the Vintage Can-Am cars.
Maybe Road America if they have another Can-Am Reunion up there.
