      Procharger Bypass/Surge Valve with Intercooler

Where is the best place to mount the Bypass Valve when using an intercooler, close to the supercharger, or close to the bonnet? I searched the archives on this and found a few threads, but no one seemed to have the definative answer. Or maybe it doesn't really matter?

With the supercharger moving air all the time, I prefer to put the bypass in between the supercharger & intercooler. That way the intercooler doesn't have a constant flow of hot air from the supercharger through it at cruise; it takes a substantial heat load off the intercooler and can prevent it from heatsoaking.

I prefer to place the surge valve(s) between the intercooler and hat. I had a few carb backfires whilst setting up and the intercooler was saved from extreme pressure. If your running high boost then maybe one each side of the i/c. I'd rather endure heat soak than blow the i/c end tanks. Lastly the excess pressure starts at the butterflies and works back to the blower. I like to get rid asap.
