      Thanks for your comments!

Some smaller modifications will be made at the front section and after that, I'll build the rear section.

I'll be able to lower the engine 1-1.5" but the problem is that the flywheel/bell house is the lowest point on the entire car. The engine will be mounted at stock position this year, and next year I'll look into lower it and move it further back.

My order from speedwaymotors landed a couple of days ago..

Scavenge filters, some ANfittings and hose:

Since I'm a student (engineer in Research & development.. wanna hire me, send me an e-mail! ;) ) this engine is beeing build on a budget, believe it or not. Therefore I've been scanning ebay for some larger AN lines during the last weeks, and I found a AN 16 hose for a small price..

And here are some pictures on my Peterson tank that arrived last week:

Picture on the top of the tank, pipe in center is for breathing and the big pipe is for return oil.

Bottom; oil heaters and feeding pipe to the pump together with oil temp sensor.

Spent the weekend in the garage!

This was as far away from the headers I could get the starter, but after some....

....adjustments on the block, could it be mounted....

...closer! I know that it looks like the starter rests on the block, but when it's tightened it's app. 1/4" clearance.

The block was also "adjusted" at some other places...

      BOP engineering rear seal!!

Took the oil pump apart for inspection and got a nice surprise since everything is in really good shape!

      Whops?! What's happening?

I'm thinking of puting something else here...

      Why not a oil tank?

Ouch! Problems, the seal is too big... Does anyone know where I can get a new for my Pattersson tank? *help*

That's all for today, I'll spend some more time in the garage next weekend..

the tank can hold 3,75 gallons, however I assume you know how a dry sump system works?

you wouldn't have had to grind the block if you would of dumped that nippondenso starter and got a mini hitachi style. those summit starters suck for clearance! I got the small hitatchi style from powermaster and it gave way more header clearance

Yeah, this starter might not have been the best application, however; the parts that I buy from US, arrives at my house a couple of months later. this way, I can get shipping almost for free. Things that I bought from a store in US 6 months ago, might be hard to return because of; A: time and B: distance...

that's why I'm stuck with the summit starter ;)

Not much happened since last time, allthough the tank is now installed and I'll start assembling the engine next week..

      Paint:

      And... Voilá:

as you can see, I slaughtered my blower motor (?) during the tank installation... However, I'll come up with something - when I have time... :rolleyes5

      some progress in the garage!

Some parts also arrived from Kauffmann Racing

A nice electric Meziere water pump!

A new cam chain too... For Pontiac BIG BLOCK (???)... Too bad not even the manufactors know anything about pontiac engines...

      Sheet metal valve covers

And here they are... something that I've been waiting for for months!!

KRE aluminum heads! They're light, they're cool and they flow lots of air!!! These are CNCported to 290 CFM, Ferrera Valves, Titanium retainers and so... soo... sooooo sexy! :D

Too bad Jeff Kauffmann forgot to include the ARP head studs that I paid for... however, those are on the way over the atlantic and will arrive in a week or so.

I went out to the garage same night and put the heads on the block just to see what the engine will look like... Guess if I was impressed!

A friend of mine, who works in the aircraft industry, also paid a visit in the garage and brought some presents (all the blue parts! ;) )

Hey Yody! I still havent got that fitting ;-)

Anyway... a little update would be good. Forgot about this thread... A couple of weeks ago, I spend a looooong week in the garage trying to make things moving:
Bought som aluminum to make parts for the dry sump system. Found a real cheap place, app. 1$/2lbs! :D

The timing cover needed some modification since the GM engineers probably never had in mind crazy Swedes trying to build dry sumped monsterpontiacs..

this is what I was thinking.. I like Yody's solution, but I think that's "slightly" more expensive than this...

Tourqed the timing cover. Feels good to know that I won't have to take if of again!

Jeff at Kauffman Racing express shipped me some parts that he forgot to include in the first shipment. Really good guy! Here are the head studs.

New, and longer rocker arm studs.

      Good looking pushrods!

Feel really good to see the heads assembled and tourqed to the block! A really nice feeling to know that the engine actually is starting to coming together soon!
As you might notice, I'm evacuation water from both of the heads. This way, I hope to get a better and more even cooling of the heads.
The electric water pump was also installed...

This was what I made (some) of that aluminum chunk I bought...
First time I'm in front of a lathe.

      Pushrods are so beatuiful!!

here's the plug I made. It's located where the distributor used to be.

The valley plate (?) is from Kauffman too.

      glued the oil pan gasket

      and mounted the pan..

Engine ready to be dropped in the compartment!

      finished the dash board too..

Threading fuel rail. The tap is 9/16" UNF, something that is pretty hard fo find here in Sweden. People just shake their heads and asks me if I'm sure it doesn't need to be left hand too, just to make it harder.. Anyway, store #6 could order one... 48$ when standard taps costs about 15$....

the intake is also done. came out really good... atleast I think that ;)

Lifted the block from the engine stand and mounted freeze plugs

Here's my Hays flywheel, allthough this is lighter than stock (I know, I should have bought an aluminum wheel from start..). 11 lbs to be exakt..

      Lighter here tooooooo!

Mounted! the engine is looking really happy ;)

To get a proper fit between transmission and crank, I made a adapter to move the pilot bearing closer.

Time to wake up the engine lift... :D

And here I am, bossing around to get it the way I want it..

      weeeeee!!! mounted!!!!

      Mounted the EFI.

      Bad news:

My Hooker Super Competitino does NOT FIT!
I bought them used last year. Don't remeber what the ad said, but I'm not that stupid that I buy the wrong heads...
Perhaps some one in here can help me identify them so I can get them sold?

Third port from left counted - there's no way that it will clear the subframe..

      Ripper,

What type of ignition will you be using? So your not running a distributor?

Looks like an electromotive system with the trigger wheel just behind the balancer.

Looks like a clean set-up!!!! One more way of making that motor better, plus making it look cleaner.
