Affordable front and rear disk brakes for 69 Camaro?

My brother just purchased a project 69 Camaro and i am just trying to source some suspension upgrades for him to get.
What is an affordable big disk brake setup (front and rear) that would work with this suspension?



What would be a good steering box for him to get that has a good road feel and better ratio?

Are there any off the shelf pieces from GM that would work for any of these two upgrades like from the Corvette or Trans Am?

I just finished the front of a front/rear disc conversion from Touring Classics. So far, I've been very pleased with everything. I don't know if their kits fall in to the 'affordable' category for you though. I noticed that they've just reduced their prices for '05. Figures.........

What size wheels is he going with? That will limit the options somewhat.

For my '69 Camaro, I bought a complete set of rear brakes off of a 2001 Z28 that had less than 2500 miles on it for $80 from a salvage yard. For the front, I bought a new set of 1996 Gran Sport Corvette calipers and slightly used 13" rotors for something like $225 or $250, I can't remember exactly. Add to that a Mustang Cobra hydroboost/master cylinder with less than 40,000 miles for $100. With pads and brake lines, I hope to complete the entire system for under $550. If you're not afraid to scrounge the salvage yards a bit, you can find some really good deals. It just depends on if you want to go with new or used parts.

That is what I am talking about nkopper! :icon996: Maybe factory GM type stuff you might be able to buy new over the counter even.

As far as "what is affordable" I am not sure just how much he wants to spend as I stated earlier.... this is my brothers project and I am trying to gather up info on certain brake combos that are available.
I do know that the wheels will be at least 18 inch TTll's.

I am planning my brake set-up on my 67 Camaro, so the stuff I have read so far really helps out. I my initial choice was to get one of those drum to disk conversion kits (ex SSBC). But, until I get some funds, I'll continue to do some research and think about my options.

hello everyone.... i have a drum brake set up on my 69 camaro and would like to know if anyone knows if any stock gm brakes from like a caprice or safari van with larger brakes would some how work? on the budget!!!
