      Picking out steering wheel

I need to buy a steering wheel for my project car & I want to ask you guys’ opinions. I’m a simple man with a meager budget so, I’m not building a top dollar show car. The interior of cars has always been an afterthought for me, I’ve never been big or wowed on fancy interiors. I don’t feel I am a good interior decorator if you know what I mean, frankly I don’t know shyt about what looks good interior wise…... So basically I need a new steering wheel, I don’t want to spend a lot of money & I don’t want to buy something that will make my car look too dated or cheap. Here are a few that I’ve been looking at in the Jeg’s catalogue. the 1st one is the cheapest decent one I found but, I’m willing to spend more if you guys suggest.

      GT Rally$66.99

      GT Rally$109.99

      Classic Style $129.99

      Evolution GT $122.99

      Grant Club Sport $85.99
Matte Black Leather Look Vinyl Grip & Polished Aluminum Spokes

      Grant Club Sport $132.99
Smooth Black Vinyl Grip w/ Diamond Grip Accents and Polished Aluminum

Since it's an aesthetics kinda thing it'd help if you included a pic of the exterior and interior.

Also whats the intended use of the car? As an example I had a Challenger series Grant till I started tracking the car and realized it was diffucult to keep my hands where the driving instructors wanted them due to the placement of the spokes in the wheel.

The silver grant club sport, based on the wheels appearance only. Interior pics your working with would be good if its done enough to show.

I'd say the $85.00 club sport with the spokes that kinda look like your wheels and then paint the polished spokes to match the wheels.

Have you searched for a used or reproduction Shelby or Mustang GT steering wheel from the late 60's/early 70's on ebay? They look great, and would fit right in with your interior. Later, Randy

I would do the Grant Club Sport....

I always go to local car swap meets and find nice steering wheels cheap. You might check to see if there is any in your area.

I got a $300 Momo Millenium steering wheel for my car for $50.

      Love those swap meets.

      What’s too big & what’s too small?

You definitely want to keep it in the 13.75" to 14.25" area. Any smaller, and it doesn't look like it belongs in the car, but in a kids toy instead. Any bigger, and it feels like you're driving a semi.
The 132.00 club sport is a really nice wheel that integrates quite well.

I just picked up a wheel from a parts yard for $6.75 that looks pretty much just like the third one down (Classic Style) except that it has a black hub in the center. It came off an 80's Buick Opel S/C (whatever that is) and required me to cut a standard GM mounting hub out of a newer Grand Prix to weld into it so that it matches my steering shaft but with a little work it's going to look really cool when I'm done. My point is that you might just find something you really like in a parts yard for next to nothing. Don't be afraid of a little cutting and welding to make it work with your car if it needs it. Even if you don't have a welder it wouldn't cost much to have someone run a couple beads.
