Bare with me on this one. It's my first time chopping a car in photoshop. I'm still sort of a beginner to it. Be gentle. I mainly just wanted to get an idea of what my car will look like when it's finished.

As a fellow Cougar owner, I can't say that I'm a big fan of the proposed engine swap, especially when FoMoCo has plenty of great powerplant choices to offer. Is there a specific reason why you chose to go with the Mopar engine?

But hey, it's your car, go for it!!

I don't know the dimensions of the new-gen hemi so it may be no different but, if he used a FoMoCo "Mod-motor" it'd be no different than the '68 with the 427 side oiler. He'd have to remove his front tires to access his spark plugs.

I guess the intent of my question would be to find out if he's after HP and torque, just the "wow" factor, or both. The modular Ford engines are overwide pigs considering their displacement for sure. I'd only consider one of those in the 4V variety, and only if it was to have a power adder too ... lots of power potential there. Going the easier route, but with less "wow", a large stroker 351W with proper cam and head selection can easily make 450/450 or more, and will virtually bolt in place of the original 289 or 302.

Thanks for the comments guys. fast Ed, I'm actually a really big Mopar fan. I just happen to think the '68 Cougar is the best looking car ever made. I also wanted to go with something different. I love the new Hemis. i nearly bought a new Charger SRT8.

Ed Could you please post the specs on your cougar? The stance and wheel sizing are perfect. I have a 67 and would like to get it sitting at that height and have the wheel wells filled about the same. Nice car!

Thanks Roger, I believe stance and the right wheel & tire combo can really make or break the look. The wheels are 18x7.5" with ~4-7/8" backspacing on the front, and 18x9" with 5.5" rear, 225/45 and 245/45 tires. Car is lowered about 2" all around.

I heard some negative comments about my 71 cougar XR7 convertible that has 18" wheels and a FI 5.0 and aod also with ac, power windows, and tilt, at the cougar nats last year but then it won best of show by peoples choice (participants) showing the purists that people can respect a car that modified to use and enjoy and not just trailer and show.....

You can't tell by the picture, but I plan on painting the car Plum Crazy purple. Basically it's gonna be a Mopar inspired Cougar. Hemi 'Cougar?
