      '64 Polara 500 Pro Touring?

Has anyone ever heard of a '63-'64 Polara 500 getting the Pro Touring treatment? I'm thinking something like:

I think I would probably opt for a convertible if I could find one in the end - simply because I dont like the lines of the roof.

I'm looking for opinions, component ideas, etc since I'm new to pro touring, but love the car's front valance. I dont have much experience or knowledge with building cars, except some volunteering in our university's FSAE program, so simplicity would be a big factor.

I probably wont be buying a project for awhile as I dont have any space to keep it while here. Just searching for a fun, fairly simple first project to learn on. If only I could find a nice cheap '68 Camaro and somewhere to make a mess!

Thanks for the link. I browsed it in the other thread, but looked a little closer this time.

I guess I would be looking to build along the lines of something a little less eccentric - if only, because I most definitely dont have the knowledge or the skills to piece together a car from oddball parts like that. Maybe one day down the line when I know what I'm doing! :P

The reason I like these so much is I've only seen 2 or 3 of them while I've been in the States, so the appeal of taking the road less travelled is definitely there.

To the guys with more experience with bigger cars like this: would it still feel like a boat after modifying the suspension and chassis because of the sheer size? I'm used to track racing old Mitsubishi colts in Malaysia, so everything I look at seems big. Just how big is the question!

The car would be a Polara, not Polaris. If you're going to fix up a car, you should probably at least know the correct name.

Thanks Ed. That was me being an idiot after daydreaming about a name for that concept... Polara > North Pole > Strip Pole > Polar > Polaris > Polar Express...

      Embarrassed, but fixed!
