      Post your "BARN CAR"

There are so many stories about "Ya, I got this car out of a barn in the country". Post your barn car and the story that goes with it..

I found this 63 Nova convertible last June. Had been sitting since 1979 in the second owner's garage. Bias ply tires were rotted out but very solid and original. Will be getting Chassisworks front clip with 13" Wilwoods, truckarm rear suspension, TKO 600 and 412 SB. Then converted to be a 65 SS Nova.

Looks nice. What do you mean by "converted" to a 65 ss?

If you notice the 65 and 63 have different grilles, taillights, trim, moldings & so on. Same body with a few different items to the exterior and interior. Also 63 was the last year for the Nova Convertible and the only year Super Sport Convertible. Can't wait to see this transformation. Keep us updated.

You're right, 62 and 63 were the only years they made a Nova convertible. 63 was the only year they were available with the SS package, although the body style was the same until 65.

Front wheels are 17X8 but I can't remember tire size right now. Rears are 17X9.5, but will need to mini tub.

Here are some old pics of my old vert with parts of the 63 to 65 conversion completed. You can see the difference on the grill and tailights.

      How about in a field?

Guy rescued this from an old lady with 24k on it. I bought it off Ebay as is for $850, and got it on the road for another $800. Eventually I put a new floor pan in it.

No mods to show. I can't afford a place to work on it, and I don't have much cash for improvements, but I did get a powdercoating gun a few weeks back. If I can find a cheap oven, I will probably be making improvements on the stock pieces.

This is where she sat when I picked her up:

I see cars, but I don't see any barns.

The barn I pulled mine out of:

My 68 Firebird Convertible, it literally was in a barn with Hay bales around it. I bought it in 1985. The guy had two for sale, he was selling this one as a parts car he bought a few years back, luckily he hadn't taken a single part off it. He'd never transfered the title and it was an all original 60k mile car. My seller had the lady's name he'd bought it from so I had to contact the original title holder to get it signed, the title was in a guys name but the same last name as an older lady I got on the phone, turns out it was her sons car and he'd bought it new in 1968, got killed in Vietnam a few years later, she drove it some then parked it untill selling it to my seller in the early 80's.
I trailered it home, put a battery in it, changed the oil, filters and gave it a tune up, put new tires and a new top on it. I still drive it as a survivor car.
It could stand a full restoration, which it'll get when my other Birds get finished.

68 RS recently found under a pile of hay in a barn...the owner passed away, and it was hidden for years, we don't know how long, but it was last registered in 1985. It shows 75k miles on the clock, and it appears correct.

Currently doing a pro-touring build on it.

69 Nova, 72K original. $3000 and rust free (okay, I had to replace the driver's floorboard, but that's IT). I'll have to find the pic of it actually in the barn.

Complete with greasy 6 banger. Got it running with fresh gas and a new cap/rotor/points. Sold the engine/trans on CL for $500.
