Help With New Tire And Rim Selection - New Member
Hi,
I just recently purchased a 1968 Camaro which is more Pro Street and although I love the car, I would like to install larger rims with smaller tires. The car currently has Weld Pro Star rims on the rear with a size of 33 X 18.5 X 15 (Mickey Thompson Street ET). Also, the car has been fully tubbed. The front has 26 X 7.5 X 15 Mickey Thompson Sporstman tires installed.
I would like to get more of the Pro Touring look with some nice looking chrome rims and new tires as I will not be going to the drag strip too often. I would keep the old wheels and tires for the strip.
Unfortunately, I do not know much about back spacing, offset, etc... and any help would be appreciated. I have included a few pictures of the car which may help. Also, I did call a couple of wheel and tire stores and they directed me to what would fit on a stock 1968 Camaro and did not understand what I wanted to accomplish.
Thanks

Nice car! If you want a direct replacement for what you're currently running, you can switch over to 18 or 20x15s and the new Mickey Thompson tires that are the same o.d. of your existing tires and then an 18x7 up front. Another option that looks pretty feasible based on your backspacing is 11 or 12" wide wheels with a slightly shorter sidewall radial. Wheels and stance are everything and will completely transform your car.

Thank you for the quick response and the help. Could you direct me to a rim and tire size(s). I would like to get a look similar to the photos I have attached. I realize that this car has air ride and all that other stuff which I do not plan on installing. With my inexperience, I guess what I am trying to get is more rim showing and less tire. Plus, I really do not like the look of the "skinny" tires on the front.
Thanks Again!
