off brand dynamat???

Has anyone used or heard of anyone using the off brand dynamat
that is sold on e'bay? The price seems reasonable, but not sure of the quality

99% of the sound dampening is the same like I posted in another forum you can get Ice dam at hardware stores. same stuff.

I used brown bread from www.B-Quiet.com and it worked just as good as any Dynamat I've ever installed, but cheaper.

i used some off brand stuff in my 1st elcamino and it worked great. i'm using the same stuff in my 2nd elky and will be in my 74 charger when ever i start on that project

brown bread is no longer availible from B-quiet. they now have Ultimate in its place. thats more for acoutic sound deading. for general sound deadning id get B-quiet extreme as it has the aluminum side on it as well for heat blockage. my 50sqft roll should be here monday. and i can finally put my formula back together. also note that jute backing(the stuff on the back of auto carpet or that they lay down under house carpet) is better than pretty much anything else out there for containing such things as road noise. its very cheap. you should be able to get it at home depot or a carpet shop. what you can do and what im doing, is lay down B-quiet extreme on the floor panels and door and pretty much anywhere else. then lay down jute backing on top of that. now you have what QuietRide likes to sell for a very expensive price. if your carpet already has jute on the back of it, find places where either it doesnt or where it wont hurt to put yet another layer on it down. also if your trying to stretch your supply out as much as possible, only lay the sound deadning down on flat spots of panels. these places are more prone to vibrating and transferring noise. if it has a form or shape to it chances are its stiffer and not going to vibrate as easily. if you know you have enough then cover everything. oh also get a wooden roller, not some rubber on or plastic one. the wooden ones work best

There is also Rammat look that up on ebay, that stuff works great and they have great customer service...Also you can get thermal "wrap-on" insulation for water heaters at ACE hardware, that's the first layer i put in my car.

I used the Fat Mat too. Easy to install... didn't smell... not real heavy...

Made a big difference in sound! Doesn't block heat too well though... my exhaust pipes ride kind of close to the floor pan.

I've used RoadKill in the past. It's what we sold as a cheaper alternative to Dynamat at the audio store I used to work at. I still have about 3 or 4 more rolls of that stuff laying around.

Most manufacturers have a regular and a heat reflective product, so you can't go by just brand name of what protects against heat and what doesn't, you have to actually know a little bit about what series it is you are buying. Some even have fire retardant layers, some just have foil to reflect heat...

Adding sound deadening under the carpet/etc. and also using felt on the back side of interior plastic panels are the two biggest things I've done to quiet my ride down inside... Well, that and adding sub frame connectors to stop the T-tops from popping and creaking over every little crack in the road...

i got my b-quiet extreme today and started putting it on. i should have the car completed by this weekend, so ill let everyone know what i think about it. so far its easy to apply compared to dynomat extreme. the dynomat has thicker aluminum layer so it doesnt form as easy. the b-quiet im pretty much just using my hand to form it. granted its a 96 formula but its a car all the same. oh and it only weights 15 lbs for 50sqft for you weight watchers.

as for the spray in stuff, it can be very good. but the aerosole stuff isnt. they simply cannnot get the pressure out of one of those little cans to put it on heavy enough. so the spray gun and gallon buckets work good typically, but thats a lot of money and special equiptment for one car. your choice, but if you do your research and talk to the companies im sure you can find some good stuff to suit your needs without going broke
