      New guy with big project

Hello everyone! I have been lurking around here for a while checking out all of your sweet rides and gaining tons of useful info. I have been busy working on my project. It is a 1970 C10 truck that is beeing converted to a 67. It has a 5-5.5" ride height, LS1 and 4l60e, Porterbuilt dropmember crossmember, air ride tech strong arms that have been modified, Cantilever rear suspension with shockwaves in the front and rear, and 20" wheels. There will be tons more stuff done to the truck but that is what i have done now. Anyways here are some pics

The last ones for now. At dump the rockers (the lowest point of the truck) sit about 1.5" off the ground. I designed it so if i ever pop an airbag I could drive it off the road. At least that is the idea. I still have a few things to do to the frame and this week i am hoping to get the bed on the frame and build the new floor in the bed. If everything goes as planed by next weekend i will have the motor and trans, all the sheetmetal on the truck. We will see though.

looks killer, definitely one I'll be watching.
Can you tell us more about the design process on the cantilever rear set up. It looks killer and I'd love to hear more about how you got the geometry working right.
Excellent work, keep the pics rolling in.

I actually have two builds going right now. One is the C5 corvette truck build and the other is this build thread. I originally built a frame for this build and then went looking for a motor and trans i came across the c5 drivetrain for an increadible price so i switched gears and started that build. After i got the frame built i realized that i need way too much money to finish it they way i want (twin turbo, 6 piston brakes, and so on) and since i already bought all the suspension parts for the first build i decided to start this one over again. I am going to sell this one when it is finished to fund the c5 corvette truck build and finish it right. I hope that makes sence. Here is a pic of the other frame just for fun. I have alot of hours in both of these frames so i like to show them off when i get a chance.

Thanks for the complement! Well when designed properly the cantilever suspension will ride perfectly. Well the few things you need to consider when designing a rear cantilever setup is as the suspension compresses you want it to compress into 90deg angle from the two shockwave mounting points and the rocker arm pivot attached to the frame. Also you want the imaginary line between the shockwaves mounting points to be greater than the angle of the rocker arm. That way it pushes the rocker arm around the pivot instead of into the pivot. That makes sence? I am no expert by any means. I am still learning. I was taught from Nathan at Porterbuilt Streetrods. He has been helping me with my build when i get stuck or don't understand something he has been explaining things to me. Really great guy. Anyways talk to you later.

I thought about when i do the c5 project that i will buy a c10 that has some patina on it and make it the ultimate sleeper. Wouldn't that be sweet!! Then i could drive the crap out of it and not worrie about the paint or upholster. We will see though. I do like shinny things.

      BTW

cantilever suspension would have a suspension link restraining the rearend with one end attached to the rearend, one to the chassis, and the bag in the middle.

What you have is a uses a bellcrank to transfer vertical force to horizontal force

Not picking on you, just clarifying for people
