Looking for wire crimp reference
Can anyone recommend a good wire crimper for heavy gauge wire? I am looking to crimp ends on 1/0 gauge cables and want to do a good job without spending a bunch of $. My intent is to crimp the ends on the cable at one end with them actually in the car after I cut them to the perfect length.
Thanks!

the only people that crimp wire like that and that would have supplies availible to the public would be large welding suppliers, most everyone here,i am guessing,,,use compression fitting(car audio). i had them make a 50 ft. ground(2/0) for my welder.
personally,i have done it one time,i had a s10 with 12-15s,,,it had 10 batteries, the connectors were going to cost a small fortune,,,so i order some crimps(1/0) from stinger(car audio supplier) at the shop i worked at,,,,i used a set of channel locks to press one of the sides over on the wire(my crimps were split),then i did the same on the other until it was tight,,then i soldered the wire and shrink wrapped the fitting...cheaper and better than just a crimp
02-11-2005 #3i use this anvil type thing, you stick the connector or end under an anvil that has a point on it. It holds it all together, while you put it on the floor and bang it with a hammer, crimps it like no other. They are like $25, try any electrical supply place like terminal supply.

Use a propane torch...And some Silver content solder for the best connection.Jeff,
