Door alignment

Hello, I have a 67 Camaro that the rear of the door sticks out a little. My friends car does the same thing. After we noticed that both of our cars do the same thing, we started to look at others and noticed that its like that on other cars also. Not all, but some. Any idea's how to fix it? The rest of the door look straight , its only the back lower corner that sticks out.

They fit like crap from the factory! Then years of wear, I'm sure replacing pins and bushing and a alignment would help a lot...

gentle pressure with a 2x4 if it's not painted yet...I have literally 50 + hours getting my first gen doors and fenders to fit

You guys are talking about the latch side of door right? At the bottom where the door corner meets with the rear quarter panel. Just making sure. LOL I read through the link above and it mainly talks about the hinges and pins stuff.

I'll try to get a picture but its 106* outside and probably even hotter in the shop!

Im not sure if you can tell in these pictures but the bottom is sticking out and all the rest of the door is flush.

good chance you just need to move the lower hinge in a bit,see if you can push the door closer at the bottom by the catch end to see theres any play.

I did a lot of twisting on my doors to get them to fit right. Knees on the body crease, hands inside the window. Pull and push. Then adjust hinges.

Same thing on my 65 Chevelle. It is not painted yet, hinges have been rebuilt and am putting on new quarters soon. If that doesn't fix it, mr. 2x4 and the dead blow hammer are gonna meet the door!

instead of the 2x4,get a old hemmings motor news and place it between door and quarter panel edge and apply force be gentle at first till you get hang of it.Good luck.Randy beep4beep

Im not sure if you can tell in these pictures but the bottom is sticking out and all the rest of the door is flush.

By the looks of these pics I would try moving the door out on the upper hinge. This will bring the top rear of the door out so you will then have to move the striker in to realign it with the 1/4. I would try this before I did any bending.

Hey Paul, No time for the doors yet. i will try it soon though. Today I finished the firewall and installed the subrame and the engine. Next will be routing the wires for the engine and pull the engine again to make the holes and install it again. I want the wires hidden. It should be worth it after im finished.

The metal worker who did most of the metal work on my car, grinded off a little material on the flat mounting side of the door hinges. My current builder, who is finishing the car, said the doors mounted and lined up perfectly. He's extremely experienced at that kind of work. Whether or not he did anything else to get doors lined up, I can't remember.
