Bring back CT Dragway
I dont know if it will help but someone started a petition to bring back CT Dragway. It looks like Mohegan Sun wants this too.

JUust wondering why is it that New england dragway is such a ghost town? Everytime I go there its empty

About a month ago Channel 8 news wanted to tape a meeting at JW fabrication about opening a track back up in CT. The closest track is Lebanon Valley and most of the fast guys in CT don't want to run there. Not enough bite for the 7-8-9 sec guys and wind coming around the speedbowl makes the top end scarey sometimes. Last time I ran there we were only allowed to run 1/8th mile after someone hit the wall on the top end because of wind. I had my 11 sec. 67 Nova and was almost relieved we weren't able to use the full 1/4 since it's about as aerodynamic as a brick and the crosswind on the top end going over 100 makes it kinda sketchy.
The renewed newsworthyness of the track is because of some streetracing problems(injurys,deaths) in CT over the past year. The casinos are sponsoring drag cars anyway so theres a connection already with them and they have the money to just do it.

that would be awesome if we got a track back. Limerock is doing well and I know a drag strip would do better. With fuel like it is its hard for most people to go out of state to run

They been saying this for years now but nothing.. That petition been around for years too.. I wouldn't mind a track in the area..

Raced there in the early 80's & miss it, would be nice to have something local.

I have heard all those rumors for years. The petition has been around a while now. There was once a rumor that someone was going to build a drag strip at Pratt & Witney's Rentchler Field air strip! I doubt that now as Uconn has a football stadium there now.
Something would be nice though.

When I was a kid I use to go to the old CT drag strip.Even bad then the people who lived around the track complained about the noise.With so much development over the years in connecticut I don't see a track coming here any time soon.
