      Looking for info (Bad Bascom)

I am looking for info on a 1963 Chevy II Nova called Bad Bascom. The car was built by Bill Thomas in, I think late 62 or early 63 (Hot Rod article is 7/63).
I am trying to find out if the car had every been raced, if so, how did it do? It is my understanding that it was built to compete in Europe. Or maybe that was just the Chevy II's with the injected corvette 327s, I am not sure.
In the Hot Rod article it mentions that Bill Thomas used spindles off of a full size car, does anyone know which car they were off of? Also I would like to know how he shortened the upper A-arm 7/16".
From the picture in the article it looks as if the lower ball joint is mounted upside down, which seems un-safe to me. Are there any problems with this type of mounting?

Any other information on this car would be much appreciated. Thanks.
