'68 Camaro running lights go off when I tun on the headlights. Why?

I can't tell if I have a bad new switch or if this is the way it should be. When I turn on the headlights all the front running lights turn off.

I even pulled the new light switch and checked it. There is a circut that does go dead when you pull the knob out all the way. So, is this normal?

What are the chances I got a new bad switch? It's been so long since the car ran I can't remember if this is correct. Heck, it could even be a Painless harness that is wrong?

I think this is normal for a 67, not a 68. You'll just need to move a wire in the switch connector. All year switches are the same.

I moved a wire on the switch as you suggested and that solved the problem. So, my guess is that Painless sold me a wire harness set up for a '67?

67 & 68 both turn off when the lights come on. Never have liked that myself and I always change the lead to keep them on.

Very strange that do do it that way. Well, I changed it and now the running lights are on with the headlights.

I have a '68, and my buddy has a '68 Camaro and Chevelle, both I built. All of them have stock wiring, or repro, and all have full time working front park lights. It's been too long since I had a '67 anything, but my '66 turned off with the headlights on.

A lot of the cars back then were wired like that. My 68 Cougar does the same thing, as did the 65 Valiant Signet I had prior to that.
