      Porsche Brakes

      Hi All,

Thought I'd post some pics of what a friend and I did during the christmas holidays, the brackets that hold the calipers to the spindles are not made yet, but you get the idea.

      Specs are:
360x32mm Audi RS-4 rotors with homemade steel hubs and Porsche Cayenne six piston Brembo calipers all mated to Corvette C-4 spindles.

I think it should be nice when powdecoated and painted.
Let me know what you think?

      Ciao
      André

Hey Andre', any reason why you didn't use the 18" rotors???? ;) looks good. I may just use the yellows and run an Audi bracket. looks great

I do not have an engineering background, I'm just a gearhead.
My friend is a mechanical engineer and have access to a machine shop.
we have about 20hours into this setup as is and there is probably ten more involved before the brackets are done, the bolts are drilled for safety wire its painted etc.
at shop rates that means 30 x $65 $1950 (in Norway they are more than double of that) plus materials

I actually thought about 380mm's (no kidding) but I found out that I had to contain myself and my wallet a bit.
If I were to redo it, I'd get some rotors that fit and buy the calipers then fabricate up the brackets.

Vince, the yellows ?? are you talking about yellow Porsche calipers? the ones from the 996, they are four pistons and Nice!
In my sick head I am alreeady thinking about using the front ones at the rear :o)

Vince, 380mm is more like 15"... 18" would be close to 460mm

      yeah,
      Christer is right.
to obtain mm from inches multiply by 25,4
to obtain centimeters multiply by 2,54.
to obtain inches from mm divide by 25,4
to obtain inches from cm divide by 2,54
      so its like this
      360mm / 25,4 = 14,17"
      380mm/ 25,4 = 14,96"
      18 x 25,4 = 457,2mm

I thought about running small wheels underneath ahahaha

      What do I think?!

I just had to send the link to my buddy, who isn't a PT guy, just because I thought your choices were so impressive, and also generally cool.

That's pretty slick. I'm interested in seeing the final outcome. Those calipers are massive. What are going to use for a master cylinder?

      Glad you like it!

I thought about using the C-4 master cylinder but I'd need someone to help me calculate if that works.
Otherwise I could go with a Porsche unit.

I'll post more pics as soon as the brackets are done.

Vince ?? I didnt get that with sarcastic etc.
I'm sure we all understood that you was just kidding with 18" wheels

btw I just re-read my post and I meant small wheels under the bumpers instead of skid plates, I saw those on C-5 vettes, look funny.

Vince, it's time for your medication and to put your comfy little white jacket back on. You'll have more playtime tomorrow.

I dont know how much but they are for sure heavy with all that Iron.
I hope and think that they are lighter than the standard rotors with the Delco Moraine iron calipers and the steel spindles though.

I'll put it on a weight as soon as it all come down from Norway.
