      68 Nova 10 bolt fit 68 Camaro?

      Will a 1968 Nova 8.2" 10-Bolt, bolt directly into a 1968 Camaro?

      Any replies are appreciated.

It will bolt right in. You might want to find an 8.5 from a later nova. They are a little stronger. I used the rear from a 72 or 73. I can't remember which year. Bolted right in with no mods.

Thanks for the info. I found a 8.2 from the Nova, with a posi for $150.00. I am going to get it.

Any advice on how to determine if the posi works properly? It is out of the car.

Can an Eaton, from 1968 be rebuilt?

      Thanks again,
      JEFF

Can an Eaton be rebuilt ?? Yes. Eaton still sells the solid disk replacement clutch packs for around $100.00.

I would go with the 8.5 if you can find one.

I finally got this rear end and tested fitted last night. Everything seems to line up fine except the spring perch on the nova's 8.2 10 bolt does not have a hole for the centering pin on the 5-leaf springs.

I am running a 1 inch lowering block. So I think for now I am ok.

      But.

If I want to loose the block, what to people do?

      Thanks,
      JEFF

Drill the perch... replace the spring pack bolt with an allen head socket cap screw. The allen head SCS has enough meat to it that you can cut the above head length down if need be to fit into the newly drilled hole in the perch.

Where are you finding clutch packs for $100? Cheapest I can find for an 8.5" is $150 on e-bay. But I digress...

Going back to the original thread, I hope you aren't throwing any amount of HP to that rearend. 8.2" like to break. 8.5" is the way to go. I'm chucking the 8.2" in my Nova.

You can get em direct from Eaton for $145. But Chica gets em for a song cause he's such a great guy. LOL

There was a thread for packs from GM parts direct for cheaper. Something like $89 plus $30 for shipping and $50 for handling. j/k...i'll try to find the thread if you need them. *edit....thread https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=42192 don't know if you need it so i put it up anyways.

Tom's Differential is one place, Hughes Differential and Pro Gear are two others.
