I've done one and it worked out really nice for my application. To be honest, I really haven't seen any cons of the mid-shift setup. (Yet)

      Hope this helps!

I know this is going to sound retarded, but what is a mid-shift setup? I just got my first T56 so i'm just started to learn about them. Thanks.

      Look at the tranny..
The shifter is mounted to the rear spot on the tranny and there is a gold cover about 8 inches in front of it..

You can mount your shifter in that location also..
But you have to do somthing else to the tranny and that is what I want to know..

I checked into it, and it's not cheap. GP Superstore (http://www.gpsuperstore.com/) carries the Slik Stix shifters for under $300. If you call Driveline Components at (714) 651-0829, Red (as in the one from McLeod who designed the shifter) can tell you all about them. The transmission case has to be removed to get the shift rails out for modification, which supposedly requires special tools or a trip to the trans shop.

I'm going to use two shifters, cut the output stub off of one, and mount it to the floor in front of my seat. A couple parallel links between the shifters with rod ends should translate the input. You can also adjust the shifter ratio by moving the linkage higher on the shifter if you require a longer than stock shifter like my pickup does. The linkage will all be under the bench seat, so I can get away with it... Just an idea incase it may work for you, too. I'm in process on the drive train swap now and will post some pictures in a couple weeks when it's done. I hope that helps, and good luck!
