I always use standard oil on a new engine for the first 2 oil changes (after 30 min break-in and again at 500 miles). After that I use Mobil 1 in all of my cars and trucks.

Standard issue liquid dino for me. Valvoline 10w-40 in just about everything I own. I also use it in a work truck with a 4.3 chevy V-6 and it has 290K miles on it and the valve cover has never even been off.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

I was running Redline forever, but now I'm running Joe Gibbs Hot Rod Oil. Those of you running low zinc oil (of the shelf auto parts oils) on flat-tappet cams are asking for less lift and duration. Most all oil companies have removed almost all the zinc in the last two years to meet environmental regulations...and most cars on the road these days don't have flat tappet cams anyway...except for us hot rodders. Zinc isn't just for breaking in cams.

Pretty much Penzoil dyno oil and usually Slick 50 when they get some miles on them. Used it in a 90 Chevy pickup and it was still running strong at 450,000 when I sold it. When I took the top end off (blown head gasket at 420,000) it looked like any 50,000 mile engine in it. But at that point it was a science project and I just changed the head gaskets ONLY and put it back together! BTW, this was after it "locked up" and would not even turn over hot when I lost all the coolant and had to drive to the next exit to get off the interstate! It started up the next morning to pull it on the trailer.
      Sold me!

vw tdi gets mobil 1 5w-40. it used to be truck and suv but they keep changing the name on it.
i'm not sure what i'm going to use in the monte, right now it's regular valvoline vr-1 for the ZDDP content. i want to run synthetic, but there are too many questions with the flat tappet cam.

Rotella on the camaro with a little bottle of zinc additive; mobil-1 ext. performance on the vette. They've even reduced the zinc content some on the Rotella from what my engine builder says due to epa, so the additive is cheap insurance. Interesting that I had ring seal issues using synthetic oil on the camaro, after re-ringing I went to Rotella, it seems to like dino oil better or maybe it's the zinc?

      Redline sythetic.

When it's time to change the Vette's oil I'll probably go with Mobil 1.

Went to Mobil 1 in roller 350 way back when till it started consuming a little them went back to rotella T 15w40.
Broke new roller engine(same cam and lifter ) in on shell Rotella than switched over to 5w40 Kendal synthetic , then when I left Firestone(could get syn for 3 bucks a qt) went to the new Shell Rotella %w40 synthetic and even with max rod and main clearance (from polishing the crank) it will runn 60 psi hot down road and 35 to 40 idling .
My new 06 Buel Blast wil get 20w50 synthetic HD oil nad when the new 283 is together for the Monza it will have a fresh start on Rotella dino oil then go to the Rotella syn.

I saw some cranks destroyed out of busch north cars last year on Mobil-1; same motors running Gibbs oil were fine. It sounds like the Mobil-1 is not what it use to be; I went to the extended performance version on my vette just since they recommend mobil-1 still on those and doing some reading on the vette forums; but after ring-seal issues on the camaro it's back to dyno oil; fyi, I found a link on the zinc additive- I run it even on a roller cam, figure it can't hurt, and is good for the rings too. http://www.zddplus.com/
