Shaping foam?

I need to fab up some foam blocks to fill in the space between my rear seat and the quarter panels. I want to shape them to match the seats. What tools do you interior guys use to sculpt the foam? And what foam would be best?

yes. But how to achieve a smooth surface? Do they use an angle grinder with a sand paper pad?

I've seen on American Hotrod that Gabe's shop was using an angled die grinder w/ roloc discs for final smoothing.

Suppose it depends on the foam, which depends on what you are going to do with it. I've used one of those "cheese grater" bondo files on firmer stuff and 40g disks for soft stuff, but it's awfully messy. There is probably a better way that the pro's use.

yup, 80 grit disc on a 3" angle grinder works perfect. WEAR A MASK! Or you will breath **** in your lungs that will be there for life!

sweet. I bought a set of seats for a Honda Prelude front and rear for 150 bucks off of craigslist. They are MINT. but the rear seat is too narrow. So i'll have to make fillers to fill in the gaps that look like a continuation of the seats. Finding the material should be fun.

Tony, try TAP plastics. They have a few 2 part liquid type foam used for mold making. Wonder if expanding foam would work for you? Probably too firm.
