well if your gonna spray then youll be using da sanders and everything else go big spend the extra i had the lowes 60 gallon when i had a body shop and man it couldnt keep up with long da sanding it wasnt bad but you would have to stop and wait sometimes

quincy compressor
buy a quincy 5 horse 2 stage 1,000.00 to 1,200.00 what ever you buy it needs to be a 2 stage or you will not be able to run a body sander like a d/a . i have sold the quincy 5 hp to several small body shops it has a presure feed oil system, cast iron cylinders and block it will be the last one you will ever need to buy i have seen 1950 models in body shops covered with dirt still pumping away. I have noticed a lot of compressors for sale in the local newspaper for really cheap. If you are not short on space you could buy 2 compressors and team them up together when you need the extra cfm. We have 4 ganged up at work and mostly run on 1 all of the time but always have a backup. The same concept can work for anyone. From what I have seen you could have 10hp worth of compessors for about $300 to $400 dollars and anywhere from 15 gal to 75gal of storage.
