Ring End Gap On Small Bock Chevy With Procharger

Long story shortened: Small block Chevy (355 C.I.). ATI procharger P1SC. Keith Black forged pistons. Speed-Pro Ductile Iron Moly Rings. Car is a street driven (someday if I ever get it finished) '66 Corvette which will probably only see short bursts of full throttle ( I am a truck driver so I don't need to lose my licence).

Speed-Pro suggests a ring end gap of .024-.026...(.006" per inch of bore)

Keith Black suggests .020 ...(.005" per inch of bore)

Right now I am at .021" on all 8 cylinders ( good machinist?)... Just wondering if I should file them out a bit.

I would imagine that Speed -Pro would rather you gap them large so the ends don't butt so they don't get blamed for any damage.

On the other hand , the tech guy at KB Silvolite seems very knowledgeable and probably knows the characteristics of their pistons.

Go with the .026, if you chose the .020 and butt a ring it will ruin the engine. Both specs would probably be ok but better safe than sorry.

I'd use the Speed-Pro recommendation. It is their ring package.

I believe I set mine up right around .006/in... but I'd have to check the assembly chart.

Follow whatever the supercharged/nitrous spec is that is provided with the rings. You don't want to pinch a ring... believe me.

Thanks for the replies.I was hoping I wouldn't have to file them, but I will.
